Programs center on survival, learning, protection, hunger, the climate crisis, and emergencies, which all have a huge impact on families who need financial aid. With a presence in 113 countries, Save the Children wants to ensure all kids have food, shelter, healthcare, and education services.

Save the Children accepts donations from around the world. You can choose the amount on their online portal, which has one-time or monthly options. A one-time $50 gift can feed three kids for a month.

#2. I Have A Dream Foundation

The I Have a Dream Foundation is a charity that supports kids from under-resourced communities with educational, social, emotional, and financial help from elementary school through college.  In 1981, businessman Eugene Lang promised a grade of sixth-graders he would pay for their college if they graduated high school. He soon realized they would need some support, so he paired with an organization that provided services. Today, 200+ “I Have A Dream” programs serve 18,000 kids in 28 states, Washington, D.C., and New Zealand.

I Have a Dream accepts one-time and monthly donations online and by mail. The charity also welcomes planned giving or gifts of stock. If you have a program in your area, you can volunteer as a tutor, mentor, intern, fundraiser, or another specialist.

#3. Share Our Strength

Share Our Strength is a US-based charity working to end hunger and poverty in America. It runs the No Kid Hungry campaign, which helps communities and schools feed kids. The campaign also has programs that help families, especially single mothers, who are more likely to face economic barriers. Share Our Strength works to increase federal and state resources for single moms, advocate for higher wages, and build the movement to end hunger. While Share Our Strength is not a disaster relief organization, it does connect with community organizations during crises.

Share Our Strength/No Kid Hungry accepts one-time and monthly donations online. You can pay with a credit/debit card, bank transfer, or through PayPal. Donations support programs that provide food; Share Our Strength/No Kid Hungry doesn’t make the meals themselves.

Afrika Tikkun uses a Cradle-to-Career approach, so young people are supported from the time they’re born to when they’re 35 years old. Programs focus on early child development, career development, social support, and more.

Since 1971, the SEWA Cooperative Federation has helped women’s cooperatives and collectives achieve full employment, self-reliance, skills, and more.
